10. Golf tours

Let a tour operator plan your golf holidays with a jaw-dropping scenery.

What makes Golf tours in South Africa special is their ability to give you multiple experiences in one! Basically, imagine yourself on a hot air balloon ride over a game reserve, then being able to go wine-tasting, relax in an award winning spa and finally get to play golf, all within the same day. In addition to that, a clear blue sky most of the year is an ingredient for great golfing conditions. That’s why a lot of worldwide famous golfers contributed in designing golf courses in South Africa.
The tour operator can take care of everything from accommodation to daily activities and sightseeing tours. All you’ll have to do is enjoy your vacation.
Our team’s recommendation: Pinnacle Point golf course; Pezula Championship golf course, both on the Garden Route.

Also, a stroll in Bo-Kaap is a must! And of course, this trip wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Cape Point where you can see both the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian Ocean blend, along with a beautiful landscape.

PS: It is a common misconception that the lowest point of the African continent lies in Cape of Good Hope. Contrary to popular belief, the lowest point of the continent is rather in Cape Agulhas, see above.

Tip: Keep at distance, penguins can be surprisingly aggressive if they feel threatened.

Wait no longer to visit the Cape Peninsula.

4. Wine-tasting

The Cape Winelands is the largest wine producing region in the country with wine estates that have been established 4 centuries ago!  So it is not surprising that many wine estates carry parts of the city’s history.
Let’s take Franschhoek as an example whose name in Dutch literally means the French corner. It tells the story of some 176 Huguenots refugees who settled on a 3.3 km² surface under the approval of the Dutch government in 1688. They later instaured their once local practices in the area. Hence the French wine names to nearly 30 South African wines.

Enjoy a wine-tasting session paired with a selection of cheese, and of course the country’s famous biltong. You even have the possibility to purchase the wines you liked the most.

To kill 2 birds with one stone, spare an hour for a session of winelands horse-riding. Though make sure to do that at the beginning since wine-tasting can leave you pretty tipsy. No wonder it’s the country’s fastest growing industry!

Because coming to Africa, the land of the Big Five, without achieving a stereotypical attraction we’ve all fantasized about ever since we watched The Lion King would be completely and utterly absurd! I mean come on, all your favorite animals from the movie can roam freely around you with a natural set up that resembles the one seen on TV, who wouldn’t give anything to see that? Not to mention you’re unlikely to see any of the animals you’ll see in South Africa anywhere else in the world.
